Fundraising Guidelines
Amtgard: Kingdom of
the Emerald Hills, Inc.
OBJECTIVE:
To
provide members a “go to” for fundraising opportunities and to instruct members
as to what functions are appropriate to raise funds for Amtgard: Kingdom of the
Emerald Hills, Inc. and its parks.
APPLICATION:
Members,
officers, and parks do not need pre-approval from the Amtgard: Kingdom
of the Emerald Hills, Inc. Board of Directors to engage in any of the following
sanctioned fundraisers. Members,
officers, and parks shall not engage in any of the following non-sanctioned
fundraisers.
Members, officers, and parks shall get pre-approval
from the Board of Directors before engaging in any fundraisers not listed
here. Due to the time-sensitive
nature of some fundraisers, the Board of Directors may vote on the fundraiser
via electronic mail or telephone and may inform the member, officer, or park of
the approval or disapproval of the fundraiser via electronic mail or telephone.
SANCTIONED
FUNDRAISERS:
1. Bake
Sales
Bakes
sales are allowed; however, check with the local Department of Health to
determine whether a permit is needed to hold the bake sale. You must have the proper permits to
conduct a bake sale.
2. Galas
Galas
are allowed; however, check with your local Parks and Recreation Department and
Department of Health to determine what permits, if any, are needed. You must have the proper permits to
conduct a gala.
3. Community
carnivals, fairs, and parades
Carnivals, fairs, and parades, whether run by the community
or the park individually, are allowed; however, check with your local Parks and
Recreation Department and Department of Health to determine what permits, if
any, are needed. You must have the
proper permits to engage in this activity.
NON-SANCTIONED
FUNDRAISERS:
1. Gambling,
Texas Hold’em or Poker Tournaments, etc.
Gambling in Texas is illegal. Any fundraising activity that may be
considered gambling is strictly prohibited.
2. Sales
of alcohol
Selling alcoholic beverages without a permit from the
State of Texas is illegal. Selling
alcoholic beverages by the cup is still selling alcoholic beverages. Any sales of alcohol, directly or
indirectly through selling the “cup,” is strictly prohibited.
3. Raffles/Drawings
Raffles/Drawings
not for “charitable purposes” are illegal. Raffles and drawings for fundraising purposes are strictly
prohibited.
