THe Emerald Hills will be hosting it's crown quals tournament May 13-
14, saturday at Midnight Sun and sunday at Eagleshire.
Judging will begin promptly at noon. All those wishing to compete in
the tourney will need to register before that time. Registration will
begin at 11:00 am. YOu will also have the chance to pre-register
online up until friday, May 12th.
Please note, Those that wish to qualify for Kingdom level office must
enter items into 10 SEPARATE categories with an average of 3.0 or
above, as well as passing the reeve's exam and corpora test. Kingdom
level qualing individuals are also required to fight in the tourney.
An entrant MAY allow someone to champion in their name for the weapon
portion of crown quals.
Crown Qualifications are based on an average percentage. The average
overall score is 3.0. THerefore, only scores over 3.0 will count
towards your final average. Simply, scores of 3.2, 3.5,4.1, and 2.8
will only utilize the first three scores towards the final average.

Categories:
Cooking: Etries will be judged on taste, texture, appetizing
presentation and difficulty.

Appetizer C1A
THis should be a dish that is intended to be served as an appetizer

Main Course C1M
A dish intended to be a main course

Dessert C1D
Intended to be served as a dessert

Other C1O
a Dish or drink that does not fit into any other category

Vintners C1V
This should be a drink that was brewed or fermented. Mixed drinks are
not considered brewed or fermented.
******NOTE- anyone wishing to enter in the vintner category MUST
bring their entry upon the first day of crown quals as these will
have to be judged offsite after competition.

Garb
Entries will be judged on durability, attractiveness, design and
difficulty.

Fighting GFI
This should be a major garb item that is intended to be worn in
battle such as tunics, pants, tabards, shirts, etc.

Court GC
THis should be a major item of garb that is not intended to be worn
in batlle such as dresses, corsets, doublets, cloaks, etc.

Monster GM
THis should be a major item of garb that would qualify as garb for a
monster in the amtgard rulebook.

Accessory GA
THis should be a minor item of garb such as hats, shoes, bracers,
etc. that would not fit into another category.

Favor GFA
This should be a garb accessory that is intended to be worn on one's
belt.

Jewelry GJ
THis should be a garb accessory that is intended to be worn as
jewelry such as crowns, coronets, necklaces, bracelets, rings, etc.

Writing
Entries will be judged, where applicable, on form, content, grammar,
spelling and usefulness to the body of amtgard knowledge. With the
exception of publication, please try to limit these entries to 5
pages or less. Publications entries require only one copy. All other
written entries must have 5 copies total, one for each judge.

Factual WFA
Writing that presents factual information such as a process, event or
research of some kind. Examples would be weapon smithing
instructions, a recounting of an amtgard event or a history of the
mongols. When presenting researched information, it is a good idea to
site references and give credit.

Fictional WFI
Writing not intended to be factual such as persona histories and
stories.

Poetry WPO
Writing presented as poetic verse.

Publication WPU
Published works such as newsletters, books, collections of articles,
etc. These entries are judged on the editorial content only, such as
presentation, suitability of the collection, format, etc. It is not
necessary that the entrant have written every article. However,
articles should never be published without the authors consent and
credit should be given. Any work not done by entrant should be noted.

Construction
Entries will be judged on construction, presentation, difficulty and
application to proposed function

Passive C2P
Something not intended to go onto the battlefield such as boxes,
steel weapons, decorative wooden weapons, stuffed animals, etc. THis
is a category for constucted items that would not fit into any other
category.

Active C2AC
SOmething intended to be used on the battlefield such as ballistae,
bows, fighting wands or throwing mugs. This is a generic category for
things that would not fit into armr, weapon, or shield construction
yet are still intended for rough battle use.

Armor C2AR
something that would qualify as armor by the rulebook standards in
amtgard such as padded armor, chainmail, brigandine, greaves, thigh
plates, helmets, etc.

Weapon C2W
Something that would qualify as a weapon by the rulebook standards in
amtgard such as swords, spears, arrows, rocks, throwing daggers,
madus, etc.

Shield C2S
Something that would qualify as a shield by the Amtgard Rulebook
standards.

Banner C2B
Something intended to be used as a banner and judged on construction
and appearance.

Bardic
Entries will be judged on difficulty as well as entertainment value.

Singing BS
A vocal presentation with some expectation of rythm and pitch.

Oratory BO
A vocal presentation with no expectation of rythm or pitch. i.e.
Storytelling, jokes and theatrical pieces.

Instrumental BI
A musical presentation performed on an instrument with some
expectation of rythm and pitch.

Dance BD
A presentation of bodily movement with some expectation of rythm and
pitch.

ART
Entries will be judged on artistic presentation and the difficulty of
the medium.

2-D
Art intended to be viewed from only one side such as drawings,
paintings, stained glass, relief carving, computer graphics, etc.

3-D
art intended to be viewed from at least 3 sides such as sculptures,
painted miniatures, stuffed aimals, blown glass, etc. People often
enter things in this category that would do better in passive
constuction. 3-D art is judged on it's artistic preentation, passive
construction on it's construction. It all depends on the entrants
focus of their peice.

Photo
Art created by taking a picture. Digital images that are mostly
photographic would also fit into this category.

Rose
Entries made for the benfit of the club intended to be donated to the
club. Entries will be scored on their construction and design as well
as their contribution to amtgard.
