FOOD FIGHT!!!! This isn't your average food fight. This food fight goes to help those in need. The chosen charities we will be supporting are the Ronald McDonald House of Dallas and the Ronald McDonald House of Tulsa, Oklahoma. How it works? Each can counts as .10 cents. Dollars count as, well, dollars....hehe. Which park can collect the most? Hey, guess what, if you have already been collecting for the Kingdom can drive challenge, you have an advantage....see how I worked that? I really want us to WIN this!
Food Fight Mission:
The mission of the Amtgard Food Fight is to stimulate the sense of community by encouraging unified support of local food banks/pantries by Amtgard chapters.
Food Fight Intent:
The intent of the Food Fight is generating grass roots participation and support by having each land support a local food bank/pantry. By doing so it unites Amtgard in a common cause which everyone can celebrate while also encouraging a relationship between the local Amtgard population and available support entities.
Food Fight Campaign Dates:
The 2012 campaign will run the entire month of September. This schedule has been adopted to allow lands more flexibility in coordinating their schedules and maximize participation. September is selected because it falls in a bit of a dead zone for food banks. They spend the summer supplying free lunches to children usually supported through free/reduced school meals. Also, people often associate food bank drives with the holidays. Obviously, this puts them a bit behind the power curve. The support we provide helps them recover from their summer programs as well as prepare for the winter months and holidays.
How it works:
- Each kingdom solicits for/appoints a representative. (Dailyn of KP is ours.)
- The kingdom rep works with the individual lands within the kingdom to assist in planning/hosting events during the month.
- All proceeds/donations are for the chosen food bank/pantries.
- The type/running of each event is up to each land hosting it.
- As events are completed, the kingdoms reps will provide their results to the Food Fight Executive Council.
- The council will gather the final metrics and post the final/official tally online.
Food Fight Ideas:
- Dollar/Can Food Tournaments
- Can Food Drive/Collections
- Sell sodas/snacks and donate profits
- Last year’s most successful event (dollars raised) was hosted by Traitor's Gate (CK) when they held a special battlegame. You paid $1 to tweak a rule.
- Auctions
