I have seen a lot of different types of throwies and many of them have duck tape for covers. Is that legal now and if so then is plastidip legal as a throwie cover.
Thanks again, Xenhei

Pg9 ROP v7.6, 1-11-11 release wrote: A blow by any part of a throwing weapon, boulder or rock counts as a hit; so all parts of these weapons need to be strike-legal. Non-abrasive cloth tape may be used as a covering for projectile weapons. Duct tape is not an acceptable covering. Plastidip is in playtesting for non-strike legal surfaces only, and the entire surface of a throwie is supposed to be strike legal, so no on the plastidip and/or duct tape throwies.

That's what I thought. I remembered that plastidip on non-strike legal parts was being tested, but it has been a bit since I have looked into the throwie section for specific wording. Thanks again.

where do I get cloth tape? I have been making mine cloth covered but with a bit of electrical tape in the center for holding the two cloth ends together. been using socks as I do not want to nail someone with a thick seam.

It is usually called athletic tape, you can get it at any sporting goods store. It does break down though, doesn't last as long as a cloth cover.

I don't usually prefer all tape covers. I like to use a cloth cover and use the cloth tape to stick it to the weapon in the right way, it can be a lot easier than doing some complicated sewing for odd weapon shapes.

odd thought, since all foam shields are in now, if you have only cloth strapping, can an assassin or barbarian (of the right level) throw their shield as a throwing weapon?

I do not believe it could be used as both. The classifications are important on who can use what and how it is affected. A combination shield/throwing weapon would need important distinctions like do you need a hand to use it, what spells affect it, can it be destroyed. Throwing weapons and shields behave differently so there is no way of knowing how a combination should be treated. Although if constructed correctly the equipment could likely be used in different ways on different lives or different games.

Now that is an awesome thought! A chakrum you can block with.
Javelins can be used offensively right? And they can be thrown as well. Why not have something like a shield that can be used defensively and be thrown. I just hate the fact that we can use throwing weapons but can't use em to staby stab someone.
What I do want to see if a uniform standard on making throwies. I hate having to take a leg cause I get pegged by a purple 'throwie' in the form of a spell ball.
Other than that, very cool concept Thorgar. S

I have been told that flat blade throwies are illegal.
Is this true? I did not see anything that would cause it to be in the RoP.
But I may have overlooked some things for it is late.

I have seen many "flat" thrownign weapons over the years. Discs seem to work well. Flat oblong throwies seem to be a bit more difficult to aim.

Bottom of Page 9 in the Rulebook Sidoth. As long as it's big enough to meet those requirements the geometrical shape is irrelevant.
If the Champion at your park still sees your flat blade throwies as Illegal refer her/him to this and ask for what you need to do differently to make it legal. It is the Champion's job to ensure safety, maybe they misunderstood the rule or there is some other concern about the weapon.
